Remove Fake Antivirus is a small but powerful utility that can be used to remove a large amount of scareware software from an infected Windows machine.
Scareware / FAKEAV is malicious software that presents itself to a user as a legitimate anti-malware security utility. Most will run an intrusive automatic "scan" on the computer and come up with a number of dangerous looking results. In reality, the results and scan are fake (although it is entirely possible that the computer is genuinely infected by another piece of malware that actually downloaded the fake software).
The fake security utility will offer to remove the software but only if a full version of the software is bought. It will then ask for credit card and other sensitive details. Individuals tricked by fake anti-virus utilities should consider reporting the case to their credit card company.
