USB Safely Remove is a utility you can use to safely disconnect a USB storage device (flash drive, external hard drive etc.) from your Windows PC. It is faster, and has more functionality than the built-in Windows feature.
If a USB device cannot be stopped, then USB Safely Remove will show the processes that are using something on the media, and preventing Windows being bring able to disconnect the device properly.
The software can also be used to forbid the stopping of devices, and has an Autorun feature that can carry out a task when a device is to be stopped and removed from a syetem (such as dismounting a TrueCrypt volume automatically).
NOTE: The software is not free and will require you to buy a license to full unlock it. The download will provide you with a 30-day trial period.
