Avast Decryption Tool for AlcatrazLocker will decrypt files that were encrypted by Alcatraz Locker, a prevalent ransomware strain in late 2016.

Encrypted files have a .Alcatraz extension, and a message is placed on the user's Desktop (ransomed.html).

This tool will guide you through the process of decrypting files that were affected by this ransomware. You will need to have an original file and an encrypted file for the tool to work. For example, if you have a copy of a photo on your computer that has been encrypted by the ransomware, look at the device you took the photo with to see if you can find an original version of that file. You may also find originals in cloud storage, backup or possibly even if you use a file recovery tool like Recuva you may be able to find a file that was deleted previously.
